    Description

Some tools are designed in factories. This one was shaped by generations of experience.

Hand-forged by traditional blacksmiths in Lamongan, East Java, this garden hoe is based on a design developed for the region’s famously dense, sticky clay soils. Over decades of practical use, local craftsmen refined its shape to penetrate compacted earth smoothly, lift soil efficiently, and withstand the demands of everyday farming.

Unlike thin, factory-stamped hoes, the Lamongan hoe features a distinctive concave blade with a gently rounded profile and a tapered cutting edge. This traditional geometry allows the blade to bite into the soil with less effort while moving larger amounts of earth in each stroke. The reinforced upper blade provides additional strength and balance, making it a dependable tool for regular cultivation.

    Ideal for:

    • Cultivating garden beds

    • Breaking up compacted soil

    • Weeding

    • Hilling and shaping beds

    • General soil preparation

Each hoe is individually hand-forged, so subtle variations in finish, hammer marks, and dimensions are part of its authentic character. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Please note: This hoe is designed for soil cultivation. It is not intended for striking rocks, concrete, or cutting large roots. For heavily rocky ground, a pick mattock or other dedicated digging tool is more appropriate.
